Trump Praises Elon Musk’s SpaceX Shares Pledge for Children’s Economic Future

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has announced plans to donate one share of his company to every child in America next year, a move he describes as the first of several planned contributions. The initiative aims to support the Trump Accounts program, launched by US President Donald Trump to help families build long-term savings for children. President Trump expressed gratitude for Musk’s pledge, noting that such generosity would enable children to gain a stake in the nation’s economic future.

The Trump Accounts program, introduced on July 4, provides government contributions of $1,000 to eligible savings accounts for children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. Parents and other contributors can further add up to $5,000 annually, with beneficiaries gaining access to the funds when they reach 18 years old. This program is designed to foster financial stability and savings from an early age.

Musk’s announcement follows a similar commitment from SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell and her husband, who have pledged to donate shares to more than two million children, primarily in Central Texas. The combined efforts from SpaceX leadership underscore a commitment to supporting the economic futures of young Americans.

This gesture from Musk also marks an apparent improvement in his relationship with President Trump, following previous public disagreements over tax and spending legislation. The two appear to have reconciled, as reflected in Trump’s public acknowledgment of Musk’s donation.
