This research proved that such systems can dramatically affect political attitudes within remarkably short timeframes.

The concentration of such power in corporate hands raises governance questions. Should capabilities for real-time mass manipulation of information environments be subject to oversight, transparency requirements, or democratic accountability? As AI systems become more sophisticated, these questions will only grow more pressing and difficult to answer.
