A fitness expert with 35 years of experience in Tai Chi and movement science points to one exercise as a “life-changing” staple. This move, the “Qi Machine,” is what they recommend for lifelong vitality.
The exercise was the first one the expert ever learned from their original teacher. It’s founded on a “double bounce” in the knees, with feet shoulder-width apart.
The expert contrasts this with a fatiguing squat. The “Qi Machine” is a “drop” motion that uses the body’s elastic “rubber bands” (fascia and ligaments) to spring back up.
This creates an “action potential” from the drop, making the movement efficient and “nearly effortless.” It generates very little metabolic waste.
Once the bounce is learned, it becomes a full-body exercise. Arms are added, a wave moves through the spine, and the whole body coordinates. This circulates blood and promotes natural breathing.
The expert claims it also balances the mind. This simple, profound exercise is a testament to the power of intelligent, natural movement for maintaining health at any age.
