Oil Prices Increase Amid Stalled US-Iran Talks and Tight Fuel Markets

Oil prices have experienced a rise as diplomatic negotiations between the United States and Iran remain stalled, overshadowing improvements in crude supplies from the Middle East. Brent crude futures for November, which are set to expire today, have increased by 0.6% to reach $103.16 per barrel. Meanwhile, the more actively traded December contract saw a rise of 94 cents, reaching $97.10. Similarly, US West Texas Intermediate crude has climbed 0.9% to $90.20.

Despite the recovery in supply, the market’s attention is primarily focused on the ongoing diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran, which aim to resolve longstanding conflicts. Qatar has expressed optimism that continued diplomatic engagement could yield progress. However, US President Donald Trump has dismissed reports suggesting that Washington might consider easing sanctions or releasing frozen Iranian funds in exchange for commitments from Iran concerning its nuclear program.

In the Gulf region, oil supply has shown signs of recovery as Saudi Arabia resumed tanker loadings at the Red Sea port of Yanbu following the restart of its East-West Pipeline. Nevertheless, analysts caution that persistent fuel shortages and elevated shipping costs may continue to keep energy markets under pressure.

Adding to the uncertainty in fuel supplies, the latest data indicates that US crude and gasoline inventories have seen an increase over the past week, while distillate stocks have declined. These fluctuations contribute to the ongoing market uncertainty regarding fuel availability.

Brent crude is on track for a monthly gain of about 14%, with West Texas Intermediate expected to rise by approximately 4%. Despite the signs of recovering supply, the tightness in fuel markets remains a significant factor influencing oil prices amid the geopolitical backdrop.
