Qatar-Egypt Boost Economic Ties Through Enhanced Business Collaboration

In a significant move towards bolstering their bilateral relations, Qatar and Egypt have pledged to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including economic, investment, and labor. This commitment was underscored during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The discussions took place in Cairo, coinciding with the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.

The dialogue highlighted the impressive growth in economic ties, as trade between the two nations surged by 80 percent by 2025. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the expansion of Qatari investments in Egypt, notably pointing to a sustainable aviation fuel production project situated within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. This project represents a significant step forward in their collaborative economic ventures.

Additionally, the discussions covered labor and consular cooperation, reflecting a desire to strengthen their collaborative framework in these areas. Regional developments were also on the agenda, with both nations focusing on efforts to ease tensions and promote stability in the region. The officials underscored the significance of ongoing coordination concerning Gaza and reiterated their commitment to diplomatic solutions for regional conflicts.

Furthermore, Qatar and Egypt emphasized the critical importance of ensuring maritime security and maintaining freedom of navigation in both the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea. These efforts are crucial for safeguarding international trade routes and ensuring regional stability, which are priorities for both countries.
